I went to spectate and film at the double Saint Piran Hillclimb event held near Bissoe, Cornwall today. Climb one was up Mount Wellington and was won by, well, you’ll have to watch the video to find out.

Climb two was up a climb called Long Lane and was much gentler on the gradient, but twice as long. Thank you to everyone that took part and helped organise such a good day of cycling.

A special thank you to Sam Nancarrow for photography in the thumbnail!

  1. Maybe an idea for when/if you`re in holland this or next winter. Beachracing is big ( in normal years ) So could be a nice video oportunity for you. There are quite some specialist teams. Ramses Bekkenk is the beachlegend. And works for Beachbastards who do a lot of socialrides and trainingrides in and around Egmond. His marathonteam rides Lapiere aswel. Lars Boom Johny Hoogerland and Tom Dumoulin are just some of the pros who ride them. Eamon Lucas uploaded two entertaining videos about it. Just one more tip. Be in topform. They ride fast…..

  2. Not enough of these types of races in the UK, we suffer due to stupid red tape big time.

  3. Did Sam do the 2nd hill? Did he vomit for a second time?

  4. never seen a hill climb before looks fun

  5. I do love a hill climb, I hate myself for loving hill climbs sometimes but I do

  6. Ate my dinner watching that lad puke 😂😂😂

  7. A cowbell on your saddle is probably a good idea for cycling along shared paths.

  8. Used to live just down the road from Bissoe…Nice to see not much has changed down there…Such a gorgeous place to live!
I actually started to feel a little sick just watching those efforts! 🤢

  9. Good lad Sam, left nothing in the tank 👌🍻

  10. I'd actually love to have a go. Having never done any competitive sports.

  11. I cannot believe u filmed the poor man puke! 🤣

  12. Lol, did he say give him a Kit Kat and five minutes and he'd be ready? That's the spirit.

  13. Very cool, never knew Saint Piran and Cornwall had such a cycling tradition! We did live in northern Minnesota and a favorite food was 'pasties', I assume brought over by Cornish minors. They tasted good! Must have been great energy for mining! Cheers!
